So today was a big day for our little girl. She took her first solo steps. She actually walked 3 different times to Mimi (she would not walk to the rest of us, Mimi must have the touch.) but she took about 10 steps in all. It won't be long now!Of course I tried to get a video of it, but by the time I found the camera, got a tape in it, got the tape to the right place and got it charged enough to video, she was done walking for the day. Oh well, we will try again next time. I am just glad Eric and I were both here to see it. Here are some pics taken of Abby on this beautiful weekend we just had.

Family Trip
Eric and I are on spring break this week, so we decided we were going to get out of town for a couple of days (with Abby). We booked a hotel in Frankenmuth, MI. For any of you who don;t know what that is, it is a town that is like a little Bavaria. They all dress up in those types of outfits and there are tons of cool places to see and museums to go to and shops and good restaurants and those types of things. Very touristy, and very family friendly. So we went there for 2 days and 1 night and we had the best time. We actually should have stayed at least one more night because there werw several things we did not get to do that we wanted to do. In Frankenmuth they also have a store called Bronners. You might have heard of it, it is the biggest Christmas store in the world. It is over 2 acres of just Christmas oranments and things you can buy. It is humongous. We spent like 2 hours in there and barely barely even saw everything. It is a very neat store. Frankenmuth had a Big outlet mall as well. It is 3 or 4 building worth of different outlet stores, it is called Birch Run. However, we did not even have time to go Birch Run. We drove through and saw all of the stores we could have gone to, and then we left town to come back home. This trip was Abby's first overnight stay in a hotel. I must stay she was really confused and not herself most of the trip. She did not eat hardly annything for 2 days and her naps were not that great. However, she did sleep all night, for which we wer thankful. We took her pack-n-play crib for her to sleep in, so at least she was sleeping in something familiar. I am glad we did that. Abby was slighty whiny several times during the 2 days and was not her naturally happy giggly self. I am not sure she likes to travel and stay away from home :) Once we got back home yesterday, she chased the cats around forever and giggled and played with her toys. Back to her old self. So here are some pics from our trip.

1 Yeat Dr. Appt.

Abby had her 1 year Dr. appt. today. At the appt. we found out that Abby weighs 17 lbs and 11 oz. which is only in the 8th percentile. She is very skinny. Her height is 28 inches tall, which means she is in the 25th percentile in height. Her head is 45 1/2 cm around. I am not sure what percentile that is because I forgot to ask. They were asking me questions about her eating habits to make sure she was eating enough because she is so tiny. Also, they checked her iron in her blood and we were told that that came out fine. The doctor counted her teeth and we thought she had 6, but after the doctor used the tongue thing and her light to look into Abby's mouth, she found 2 molars that Abby had already gotten in that we did not know about, so she actually has 8 teeth, 2 of the top molars, one on her left and one on her right. So our little girl is growing right along. doing very well. Here are some pics from Easter. She looked SOOOO cute in her Easter dress, thanks Oma!!

HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of course this post is all about Abby's first birthday!! This morning her dada and I woke her up by videotaping her, giving her a present to open and singing "Happy Birthday" to her. Needless to say for the first few seconds she was not awake and a little stunned, but it only took her a few seconds to recover and then she was really excited to see us. As we gave her the present to open, she did not really feel like opening it, but she really liked the card we gave her and wanted to hold and play with that. Mommy ended up opening up the present and showing her. Once she saw the present, she definitely got more interested. We gave her some toddoodles, (which are big round animals with crayons in the top so she can grip it well and use it to draw and color). I can't believe that she is one year old. I have 2 differnt thoughts about this. The first one is that she is so big and it could not have been that long, but the second one is that it seems like she has been here forever and I can't remember what life was like without her!! She is the most prescious and important thing that has ever happened to us. She is so much fun and I can't wait until her birthday party!! Life doesn't get any better than this :)
