Dull yet exciting life of the Polos!

Eric was gone Tuesday evening at Camp Perry with his friends, so Abby and I decided to make him his favorite cupcakes, red velvet. This is Abby washing the dishes after we got done making the cupcakes.

Abby washing more dishes.

This is Abby while we were making the cupcakes. Abby thought they tasted good before being baked.

Stirring the cupcakes........YUMMY!!!

Eric "sleeping" in Abby's bed!

Abby was reading a night night story to Dada!

We check on Abby every night before we go to bed, the other night, Eric went to check on her and found her sleeping like this. She often sleeps with her legs hanging out! Silly baby!

2 year checkup

These are some of Abby's 2-year pictures!

Abby helping Mimi blowing out her candles.

Abby just had her 2 year checkup on Friday. She has gained some weight, so she is no longer below the chart, now she falls on the chart in the 10th percentile or so. She now weighs 23 3/4 lbs. She also got an inch taller since she was at the Dr. and she is now 33 inches tall. She is about the 25th percentile for height. We did not get the exact head measurement this time, but the doctor stated that she continued to be just above the 50th percentile for head size. The doctor was pleased with all of her progress.

The past week has also been eventful because it was both my mom's birthday and Eric's mom's birthday. So we celebrated both of those. We went out last Saturday, with my whole family, to Mon Ami, a restaurant in Port Clinton. Then on Thurday of this week, we went to Mimi and Papa's to eat Chinese and have celebratory cherry pie. It has been fun celebrating all of these big April birthday's.

The uneventful spring break!

This is Abby dancing with her friends Carter and Tyler. On Friday night, we had our good friends Jason and Amanda, and their boys, over for dinner. The kids had so much fun and it was really nice to hang out with them. We don't hang out with them enough!

On Saturday, my mom and grandma came into town to see us. We went putt-putting. Abby had never been before, she she hit the ball in a few times. She was not near as much of a fan as we had hoped. Oh well, maybe next time.

More pics of the 3 kids on Friday, eating popcorn and watching a movie.

This would have been the best one of the 3 if the hook had been moved just slightly!

On Tuesday of spring break week, we took Abby to the zoo for the first time this season. She really does love the zoo and we love going to the zoo with her.

Abby playing at the new kids area of the zoo. It was such a beautiful day!

Abby and Dad watching the birds, which is always Eric's favorite part of the zoo!

On Monday, we went for a 15 mile bike ride. Since I have not ridden since Abby was born, this was a long ride. We got a new trailer for Abby to ride in, so she enjoyed the ride. This was Abby sitting in the back of Eric's car after the ride was over. She is snacking and looking all refreshed! Of course, at this point in the journey, my entire butt was numb and I could not feel it for the entire next day. On Tuesday, the day after the bike ride, I went to see Eric at work (at the bike shop) and bought special riding shorts that have pads in the butt. I am hoping this helps for next time we ride. On Tuesday, Eric's aunt Sue also came into town from Baltimore and Abby and I visited her for a couple of hours.

This is Abby playing at the park at the halfway point of our bike ride. She was enjoying her play time.
So, after the crazy weekend, the rest of the week was pretty much uneventful. We did something almost every day, but nothing too exciting. Oh I almost forgot the most exciting things of all! On Saturday, right before we left to go putt-putting, Abby told me she had to go poop. She tell me this often, but when I sit her down on the potty, nothing happens. So I took off her diaper, sat her down on the potty and she sat there for a few minutes. She stood up and said all done. I didn't hear anything, so I just told her good job and started to put her diaper back on when my mom looked into the potty and saw a little pee pee in there. YEAH for the first time ever, my little girl pee peed in the potty!!!!!!! You go ABBY!!!! WOO HOO!! I hope it continues!!

Bedtime Prayers

Abby after 3 days of partying, she is ALL worn out!

I just have to share this story about Abby from last night. Yesterday we went and did a lot of things with Abby, we went to the zoo, and then Abby and I went to dinner, we went shopping and then we went to see Eric's aunt from out of town. We did not get home until really late. I got her ready for bed and I laid her right down, without our usual bedtime ritual of reading, and rocking, and praying. As she was laying there, I was talking to her giving her a kiss and telling her goodnight, when she folded her hands together said a couple of sentences and then said "Amen". She realized that we had not prayed before bed and that we needed to pray, so she went ahead and prayed on her own. When I realized what she did, I asked her if she wanted me to pray before bed. She nodded her head yes, and so I said our bedtime prayers and at the end she said Amen and clapped her hands. This whole things made me realize how much she is taking in and being influenced by everything I am teaching her now. For the past month or so she has not been into the bedtime prayer at all, she wiggles and moves and tries to read while I am praying, so I thought she really wasn't getting it, and now I realize that even if it seems like she is not getting it, she is absorbing everything that I say and do around her. This just makes me more aware to not call the other driver, that is making me mad, a moron or an idiot or whatever I want to call him. And not to talk about people or say mean things about anyone, because she is listening and absorbing. This whole thing also made me so proud of her. I am helping to prepare her heart and mind for one day when she will go to church and accept Jesus as her own savior and have her own relationship and her own walk with God. What a serious responsibility we all have as parents to teach our children to follow God, even at such a young age. Thank you God for giving me this precious blessing to teach and show her Your Love so that she may one day be a woman after Your own heart!

The Party Is Over!

So Uncle Andy took over 30 minutes of video from Abby's birthday party today, and then, being the professional videographer that he is, he made a 4 minute synopsis video. The end is the best part and he did a wonderful job! Thanks Uncle Andy! The birthday party today was a HUGE success. We had lots of people, food, and fun. Thanks soooo much to everyone who helped out today! Mimi and Papa especially since we had it at your house. We are finally nearing the end of the funfest weekend, only one more day and then a whole week of resting!

Birthday Party/Easter Weekend Bonanza Funfest Begins!!

Abby colored Easter eggs for the first time. She is wearing her smock so we don't get all messy.

This is the disaster after we got done with the eggs.

Abby's hands after coloring the eggs. I had to scrub and scrub to get the dye off because Abby has her 2-year pictures at 11:00 in the morning. Those hands would not make for good pictures!
\
We colored lots of eggs!

Abby had sooooooo much fun!

She even drew on a few with crayons so that when we colored them you could see her drawings.

Mama and Abby coloring eggs.

Abby really enjoyed herself!!

So this weekend is a CRAZY weekend in the Polo house. Abby's second birthday is tomorrow (Good Friday). We are going at 11:00 to get her 2-year pictures taken and then we are going to go see the Easter bunny and get a picture with the bunny. Tomorrow is also Uncle Jeff's (Eric's brother) birthday. So Saturday, we have Abby's birthday party. We are having it at Mimi and Papa's house and we are having and Easter Egg hunt and all kinds of fun things. On Saturday night, we will probably hang out with Jeff for his birthday. Then Sunday is Easter, and everything that goes with that. by Monday we are going to be EXHAUSTED! Good thing we are on Spring break!! We can use it!!
